Flow Table

Flow Table

Product Code : EL-CTLE-10295

Flow Table (code EL-CTLE-10295) is an apparatus for determining the consistency of mortar, lime and cement specimens, made in an ASTM model and an EN model, each available hand operated or motor driven. The ASTM model has a 254 mm brass table and the EN model a 300 mm stainless steel table, both use a brass conical mould and come with a brass flow mould and tamper, and the motor version runs at 1 revolution per second and stops itself after the preset number of drops.

What Is the Flow Table Used For?

Flow is a measure of how far a mortar or paste spreads when it is jolted, and it is used to bring cement, lime and mortar mixes to a set consistency before further testing. The conical mould is placed at the centre of the table, filled and tamped, then lifted off, and the table is raised and dropped the preset number of times by the hand wheel or the motor. The diameter of the spread mortar is then measured to give the flow value, which is compared with the consistency the test method calls for. The standards listed are ASTM C230, EN 459-2 and EN 1015-3.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of flow tables required.
  • Model — the ASTM model with 254 mm brass table or the EN model with 300 mm stainless steel table.
  • Operation — hand operated with hand wheel, or motor operated with preset drop counter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which table sizes and materials are offered on the flow table?
The ASTM model uses a brass table of 254 mm diameter, while the EN model has a stainless steel table of 300 mm diameter.

Is a motor driven flow table available?
Yes. Besides the hand operated model with its hand wheel, the motor operated version turns through a motor speed reducer and mechanical coupling at 1 revolution per second.

How does the motorized table know when to stop?
The number of drops is set in advance on a counter, and the motorized table stops automatically when that number has been completed.

What materials can be tested on the flow table?
Mortar, lime and cement specimens are tested for consistency on both the ASTM and the EN model, which differ in table size and material.

What are the conical mould dimensions for each model?
Each brass conical mould measures 100 mm at the base and 70 mm at the top; the height is 50 mm on the ASTM model and 60 mm on the EN model.

Which standards are listed for the flow table?
The standards listed are ASTM C230, EN 459-2 and EN 1015-3, matching the two models built to ASTM and EN standards.
