Flexure Testing Machine Digital

Flexure Testing Machine Digital

Product Code : EL-CTLE-10282

Flexure Testing Machine Digital (code EL-CTLE-10282) is an automatic machine, built in 100 kN and 200 kN capacities, for bending tests of standard concrete beams, transverse testing of kerbs and flagstones, and indirect tensile testing of concrete and of interlocking pavers. Its welded steel frame carries a down-stroking ram on the upper crosshead with a load cell for load measurement, a 750 W dual stage power pack holding 25 litres of oil supplies it, and the graphical LCD controller runs the cycle once the specimen details are entered.

What Is the Flexure Testing Machine Digital Used For?

Concrete beams, kerbs, flagstones and paving blocks are often judged by their strength in bending or splitting rather than in crushing, because in service they tend to fail by cracking in tension. The specimen is set in the frame on the flexural, transverse or splitting accessory that its test calls for; the operator enters its details and presses START, and the ram comes down at rapid approach before loading at a controlled rate until the specimen breaks. The control system works out the stress and stores the result. The same frame can also be linked to a compression machine of the range as its second frame. For this machine the standards listed are EN 12390-5, EN 12390-6, EN 1338, EN 1340, ASTM C78, C293 and C496.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of flexure machines required.
  • Capacity — the 100 kN or the 200 kN version.
  • Test accessories — the flexural, transverse or indirect tensile accessories needed for the beams, kerbs, flagstones or pavers to be tested.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tests can the flexure machine carry out?
Beams of concrete can be broken in flexure, kerbs and flagstones in transverse bending, and concrete specimens and interlocking pavers in indirect tension, with ready stress calculation for each of the listed methods.

What capacities and piston strokes are offered?
The machine is built in 100 kN and 200 kN capacities. Piston strokes of 75 mm and 100 mm are listed, each protected by a safety limit switch.

How is the load applied and measured on the frame?
A single acting down-stroking ram on the upper crosshead applies the load and a load cell measures it. The ram returns by dead weight, and an over travel switch shuts the machine down at maximum ram travel.

What loading rates can the power pack deliver?
The dual stage power pack loads specimens between 1 kN/sec and 20 kN/sec, with rate control within ±5, after a fast approach of 60-100 mm/min from its high delivery, low pressure pump.

Can the flexure frame work with a compression machine?
Yes. Both the 100 kN and the 200 kN frames can be connected to a compression machine of the same range, where they serve as its second frame.

What safety devices are fitted to the flexure machine?
A maximum pressure valve on the power pack prevents overloading, a ram travel switch prevents excessive piston travel, and the front and rear gates are fitted with transparent flexi-glass.
