What Is the Polishing and Lapping Machine Used For?
Lapping and polishing give a mounted specimen a flat, smooth surface, which is needed when the surface is to be examined closely, for instance under a microscope, or when it must bear evenly in a test. The operator fixes polishing cloth or paste on the 20 cm top with its adapter, places the specimen in a sample holder sized for its core, from EX up to NX, and lets the spindle turn the top at 450/500 rpm while the swing-in tap feeds water continuously to keep the surface wet and carry away debris. Two holders of the ordered size come with each machine.
