What Is the Automatic Grinding Machine Used For?
Compression test results depend on the specimen ends being flat and square to the specimen axis, because an uneven end concentrates the load and lowers the measured strength. This machine grinds the ends of cast concrete cylinders and drilled cores to that condition. The operator fits the cradle and water restraint panel for the specimen size, fixes three smaller or two larger specimens and selects the grinding time; the cradle then moves the specimens radially in both directions during grinding while the water is held inside the machine, and each end typically takes 90 to 120 seconds. The ground specimens then go forward to the compression test.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of grinding machines required.
- Specimen sizes — the cylinder or core diameters to be ground, 38 to 100 mm or 150-160 mm.
- Extra water restraint panels — panels for cubic specimens or other cylinder sizes, which are ordered separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many specimens can the Automatic Grinding Machine grind at once?
It grinds three specimens of 38 to 100 mm diameter or two of 150-160 mm diameter at the same time, using the suitable cradle and water restraint panel.
What is the minimum specimen length?
Every specimen must be longer than 70 mm to be ground on the machine, whether it is a cast cylinder or a drilled core.
How long does grinding take?
The user can select an advance grinding time from 50 to 400 seconds, and the optimum grinding time for each end of all specimen types is 90 to 120 seconds.
What flatness and squareness does it give?
The planeness of the ground surface is 0.05 mm, and the deviation of perpendicularity of the side with reference to the end faces is 0.5°.
How is the operator protected from water and dust?
The design keeps the user from being exposed to water and dust while leaving the water inlet and outlet accessible, and the stainless steel shell resists corrosion.
What should be included in an export enquiry for this machine?
Give the number of machines and specimen sizes, the destination country with port or city, the delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing requirements and any tender reference.
