Tile Abrasion Testing Machine
Product Code : EL-ATLE-10488
Tile Abrasion Testing Machine (code EL-ATLE-10488) is a machine for measuring the wear of cement flooring tiles, in which a tile sample is pressed under a specified load against a grinding path strewn with abrasive powder. The grinding path turns at 30±1 revolutions per minute, the load is applied by a counter balanced lever, and the machine comes with an automatic pre-set revolution counter and one 7.5 kg weight, for a 230 Volts single phase AC supply.

What Is the Tile Abrasion Testing Machine Used For?
Flooring tiles are worn by foot traffic, so the abrasion test measures how much thickness a tile loses under a standard grinding action. The tile is fixed in the bracket and loaded through the lever with the weight, and the funnel is used to spread abrasive powder on the grinding path; after 100 revolutions, counted by the pre-set counter, the second parallel side is ground for the same number of revolutions. The tile is measured with a thickness gauge before and after, and the loss shows its resistance to wear. The standards listed are IS 1237 and IS 1706.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of tile abrasion machines required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which tiles is this machine meant for?
It is used for wear testing of cement flooring tiles, and the standards listed for it are IS 1237 and IS 1706.
How is the tile loaded against the grinding path?
A counter balanced lever presses the tile, held in a bracket, against the grinding path, and one 7.5 kg weight is supplied for applying the specified load.
How many revolutions make up a test?
One side of the tile is worn for 100 revolutions of the disc, then the second parallel side is worn for the same number, and the automatic pre-set revolution counter keeps track of them.
Are the abrasive powder and thickness gauge included?
No. The machine is supplied without abrasive powder and without the thickness gauge used to measure wear, so these are obtained separately.
What is the speed of the grinding path?
The grinding path, a replaceable track fitted on a disc that turns on its vertical axis, revolves at 30±1 revolutions per minute inside a circular tray.
What power supply does it use?
It is suitable for operation on a 230 Volts, single phase, AC supply, and a funnel is provided for charging the grinding path with abrasive powder.
