What Is the DLC Vibrating Hammer for Concrete Mould Used For?

DLC, dry lean concrete, is a stiff, low-cement mix laid as a base under concrete road pavements, and it is hard to compact fully in a mould by hand rodding. The hammer is fitted with its shank and tamping foot, held on the concrete in the mould and run until the layer is compacted, after which the next layer is added and the process repeated. Vibration rather than repeated blows does the compacting work. The hammer is also listed for the bleeding test, which finds how much mixing water rises out of fresh concrete after placing. The standards listed for the hammer are ASTM C 232 and EN 480-4.
