Computerized Level Control Trainer
Product Code : EL-MAILE-10802
Computerized Level Control Trainer (code EL-MAILE-10802) is a teaching rig on which students regulate the water level in a transparent tank and so learn the basics of closed-loop control engineering. A 250 W centrifugal pump feeds the 7 L level-controlled tank from a 30 L storage tank, a pressure sensor (0–100 mbar) at the tank base measures levels from 0 to 0.6 m, and a pneumatic DN 20 control valve with an electro-pneumatic positioner acts as the final control element.

What Is the Computerized Level Control Trainer Used For?
Level control is needed wherever a vessel must be held at a set filling height while liquid flows in and out, and the pressure at the bottom of a tank rises in proportion to the depth of liquid above it. The trainer uses that principle: the sensor at the base of the transparent tank reports the level to the digital controller, which positions the pneumatic control valve through its electro-pneumatic positioner. Students choose P, I and D settings, open the outlet ball valve to upset the level and compare how quickly it recovers, using the 2-channel line recorder, an external plotter on the lab jacks or the optional process control software.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of trainers required.
- Software — whether the optional process control software is to be supplied.
- Power supply — the 230 V single-phase version for 50 Hz or for 60 Hz.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the trainer measure the water level?
A pressure sensor with a 0–100 mbar range is installed at the base of the 7 L transparent tank, and the pressure it reads corresponds to a level span of 0 to 0.6 m.
What type of control valve is fitted?
It is a pneumatically operated DN 20 control valve with an electro-pneumatic positioner, a 4–20 mA reference variable, Kvs 4.0 m³/h, a 15 mm nominal stroke and an equal-percentage characteristic.
Can a disturbance be applied during a run?
Yes. The ball valve in the outlet line produces a defined disturbance variable, so students can watch how the chosen controller settings bring the level back.
Is software available for the trainer?
Process control software is offered as an option. Without it, the variables are plotted on the integrated 2-channel line recorder or taken as 4–20 mA analogue signals from the lab jacks.
How much water does the system hold?
The storage tank holds 30 L and the transparent level-controlled tank 7 L. A 250 W centrifugal pump rated at 150 L/min and 7 m head delivers water from one to the other.
What should an export enquiry include?
Give the number of trainers, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing requirements and the tender reference, if there is one.
