What Is the Digital Wattmeter Used For?
Power in an AC circuit depends not only on voltage and current but also on the power factor, the share of the apparent power that does useful work, so a wattmeter reading is needed to know the real load. In electrical and machines laboratories, students and technicians use the meter on loads such as lamp banks, heaters and motors and read the watts, voltage, current and power factor together on the dual display. Max/Min captures the extremes during a run, for example as a motor starts, and Data Hold freezes a value so that it can be recorded.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of wattmeters required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Digital Wattmeter measure?
It measures power in watts, AC voltage, AC current and power factor, showing the readings on a large backlit dual LCD display.
What are its power range, resolution and accuracy?
The watt range is 0 to 6000 W, with a resolution of 1 W and an accuracy of ±(1% + 5 W).
What voltage can it read?
It reads AC voltage from 0 to 600 V with a resolution of 1 V, and the meter carries a III 600V safety rating.
What do Max/Min and Data Hold do?
Max/Min keeps the highest and lowest readings during a measurement, and Data Hold freezes the displayed value so that it can be noted down.
What is power factor?
Power factor is the ratio of real power, in watts, to apparent power, the product of voltage and current; it shows how much of the current drawn does useful work.
How large is the meter and in what conditions does it work?
It measures approx. 190 × 88 × 40 mm, weighs approx. 398 g, operates from 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F) and has a low battery indicator with auto shut off.
OEM Manufacturer
Engineering Lab Equipment (Engineering Labs Equipment Pvt Ltd) builds the Digital Wattmeter at its works in Saha, District Ambala, Haryana (Plot No. 43, Industrial Park, Sector 2, Growth Center). Its measuring instruments and instrumentation trainers for engineering laboratories go to engineering colleges, polytechnics, technical training institutes and research laboratories in India and abroad, and equipment can be made to an institution's own requirements.
