What Is the Cell Scraper Used For?
Adherent cells grow fixed to the floor of a culture vessel, so they have to be released before they can be counted, passaged or used for protein or nucleic acid extraction. After the medium is removed or a small volume of buffer is added, the user draws the soft LDPE blade across the growth surface, lifting the cell layer so that it can be collected with the liquid. Being sterile and free of DNase, RNase and human DNA, the scraper suits work in which the harvested cells must stay clear of these contaminants.
