Tensile Strength Tester (Electrically Operated)

Tensile Strength Tester (Electrically Operated)

Product Code : EL-CTLE-10333

Tensile Strength Tester (Electrically Operated) (code EL-CTLE-10333) is a lever-loaded machine for finding the tensile strength of briquette specimens, with the load applied by a weight that travels along the top lever of a friction free double lever system. Its capacity is 900 kg, a micro switch stops it the moment the briquette fails, and it runs on 230 V, 50 cycles, single phase A.C., with one brass briquette mould and one base plate supplied.

What Is the Tensile Strength Tester (Electrically Operated) Used For?

The briquette test pulls a waisted specimen of cement mortar apart in direct tension and is a long-established way of judging the tensile strength of cement. A briquette cast in the brass mould is gripped in the jaws and the machine is switched on, so the sliding weight moves along the calibrated lever and steadily increases the tension. When the briquette breaks, the micro switch stops the weight at once and its position on the lever gives the failure load. Before the next test the marker on the sliding weight is used to bring it back to the zero position.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of briquette testers required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the load applied to the briquette?
A sliding weight travels over the calibrated top lever of a friction free double lever system, and the lever action applies increasing tension to the briquette held in the jaws.

What is the capacity of the tester?
The capacity of the unit is 900 kg, and the tensile load at failure of the briquette is indicated to 0.5 kg.

What happens when the specimen breaks?
A micro switch fitted to the machine stops it instantly when the briquette fails, so the sliding weight stays at the point on the lever that shows the failure load.

What power supply does it run on?
The tester runs on a 230 V, 50 cycles, single phase A.C. supply, which drives the sliding weight once the machine is switched on.

What comes with the tester?
It is supplied complete with one brass briquette mould and one base plate, used for casting the specimens that are then tested in the jaws.
