Working Model of Gear Box

Product Code : EL-AELE-10745

Working Model of Gear Box (code EL-AELE-10745) is a cutaway training model of a vehicle gearbox, sectioned and colour-coded to show drive entering at the input shaft, crossing to the lay shaft and reaching the main shaft gears and synchromesh device. Its gearbox has 4 forward speeds plus reverse with a single-plate diaphragm clutch, and the assembly includes a 4 stroke, 4 in-line cylinder engine with indirect injection, turbo supercharger feeding, overhead camshaft and toothed-belt distribution, measuring approx. 1600 × 700 × 1000 mm.

What Is the Working Model of Gear Box Used For?

Each gear in a manual gearbox gives a different ratio between engine speed and road wheel speed; a low ratio multiplies torque for moving off or climbing, while higher gears let the vehicle cruise on the level at moderate engine speed. On this cutaway, where the gearbox is shown with a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine and its single-plate clutch, the instructor turns the mechanism by hand and shows drive leaving the engine through the clutch, entering the input shaft and passing via the lay shaft to whichever main shaft gear the synchromesh has locked. The 4 forward speeds and reverse can be traced in turn.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many speeds does the gearbox have?
The gearbox has 4 forward speeds plus reverse, and it is paired with a single-plate clutch with diaphragm.

What engine details are included in the model?
The specification lists a 4 stroke engine with 4 in-line cylinders, indirect injection through a VE type rotary injection pump, turbo supercharger feeding, an overhead camshaft with toothed-belt distribution, an alternator and water cooling with thermostatic valve.

What role does the synchromesh play?
Gears on the main shaft turn freely until the synchromesh device, which is splined to the shaft, locks the selected gear so that it can pass drive to the output.

What finish and colour coding are used?
Different colours pick out the parts, cross-sections, lubricating circuits and the fuel and cooling systems of the sectioned assembly, and many components are chromium plated and galvanised.

How big is the gearbox model?
The cutaway is about 1600 mm long, 700 mm wide and 1000 mm high on a base with wheels, and it weighs approximately 150 kg.
