What Is the Electrical, Electronic Pneumatic Calibration Bench Used For?
Calibration compares an instrument's reading or output with a known reference across its range and adjusts it until the two agree, and in a plant this is routine work for instrument technicians. On the bench a trainee connects the device under test to the pressure outputs fed by the three reducers, applies known pressures read on the class 0.25% gauges or the glass manometers, and checks the transmitter's output with the digital multimeter. Electronic instruments are powered from the DC supply and driven by the 4–20 mA signal generator, while temperature indicators and controllers are checked against the thermocouple and RTD simulators in place of a real sensor.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of calibration benches required.
- Power supply — 230 V single phase, to suit 50 Hz or 60 Hz mains.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which instruments can trainees calibrate on the bench?
Pressure gauges, pressure switches, thermostats, pneumatic and electronic pressure, differential pressure and level transmitters, indicators, recorders and indicator/controllers, hydrostatic thrust and capacitive probe level transmitters, pneumatic valves and positioners.
What pressure references are provided?
Four precision pressure gauges of class 0.25% cover -1 to 0, 0 to 1.6, 0 to 4 and 0 to 10, and two differential pressure glass manometers of 1000 mm height are fitted.
What electrical test equipment is included?
A digital multimeter with ±0.03% accuracy, a 20 A current range and a 1200 V voltage range, a 4–20 mA signal generator, a 12-24-48 V DC power supply and 0–200 V voltage control.
How are temperature instruments checked without a heat source?
Thermocouple and RTD simulators supply the signal a sensor would give, so a temperature indicator, controller or transmitter can be checked at chosen points without heating a real probe.
How is air pressure distributed to the devices under test?
Three precision pressure reducers feed 12 pressure outputs, and a manual control station complete with its own precision pressure gauge is provided for setting pneumatic signals by hand.
Which export details should accompany an enquiry?
State the number of benches, the destination country with port or city, the delivery terms required, for example FOB or CIF, any special packing and the tender reference where one applies.
