Spot Welding Machines
Product Code : EL-WTMAA-10601
Spot Welding Machines (code EL-WTMAA-10601) are resistance spot welders with tap method current control, giving 50% to 100% current in 8 steps from 8 tap adjustments on the primary of the main transformer. They are mechanically capable of 60 spots per minute, their electrodes, electrode holders, arms and transformer are cooled by one water circuit, and the upper electrode is worked by foot lever or air cylinder.

What Are the Spot Welding Machines Used For?
Spot welding joins overlapping sheets by clamping them between two electrodes and passing a heavy current for a short time, so the resistance of the joint melts a small nugget that fuses the sheets together. The operator places the sheets between the electrodes, brings the upper electrode down by the foot lever or the air cylinder to apply the electrode force, and the weld current, set by choosing one of the 8 tap steps from 50% to 100%, makes the spot. Water flowing through one circuit cools the electrodes, holders, arms and transformer, allowing repeated welding at up to 60 spots per minute.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of spot welders required.
- Electrode actuation — foot lever operation with calibrated spring, or air cylinder operation with gauge and air accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the welding current adjusted?
Current is set by the tap method: 8 tap adjustments on the primary of the main transformer give current control from 50% to 100% in 8 steps.
How many spots can be made per minute?
The machine is mechanically capable of attaining 60 spots per minute, with cooling water running through the electrodes, holders, arms and transformer.
How is the upper electrode operated?
It is actuated either by foot lever, with a calibrated spring in the manual system, or by air cylinder, with a gauge in the air system; electrode force can be calculated in both.
Which air accessories are included?
The air system incorporates a filter, lubricator, regulator, gauge, solenoid valve and speed valve for operating the upper electrode by air cylinder.
Why is water cooling needed?
Spot welding passes a heavy current through the electrodes and arms, which heats them; one water circuit keeps the electrodes, holders, arms and transformer from overheating during repeated welds.
