Multi Heat Exchanger with Data Acquisition
Product Code : EL-HAMTLE-10764
Multi Heat Exchanger with Data Acquisition (code EL-HAMTLE-10764) is an experimental apparatus for studying concentric tube, shell and tube, and plate heat exchangers under parallel or counter flow, together with batch-type heat transfer in a stainless steel jacketed vessel with coil and stirrer. A service module with hot water tank, pump, 3000 W heater, 14 temperature points, hot and cold water flow meters and a temperature control unit feeds whichever exchanger is selected by opening a valve.

What Is the Multi Heat Exchanger with Data Acquisition Used For?
A heat exchanger passes heat from a hot fluid to a cold one through a separating wall, and its type and flow arrangement decide how much heat is transferred for a given size. Students heat water in the service module tank, open the valve for the concentric tube, shell and tube or plate exchanger, set the hot and cold flows on the flow meters and record the temperatures; switching two hoses changes parallel flow to counter flow. From the temperature changes and flow rates they work out the heat duty and the heat transfer coefficient of each type. The jacketed vessel then shows batch heating of a stirred liquid through a jacket or coil.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of multi exchanger units required.
- Single-phase supply — 230 V at 50 Hz, 230 V at 60 Hz or 120 V at 60 Hz.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which heat exchangers are included?
There are three: a concentric tube exchanger with 2 sections of stainless steel inner tube, a shell and tube exchanger with stainless steel inner tubes, both cased in clear acrylic, and a plate exchanger with stainless steel plates.
How is the flow changed from parallel to counter flow?
Changing from parallel to counter flow is done by switching two flexible hoses, and the exchanger to be used is chosen simply by opening a valve.
What does the jacketed vessel demonstrate?
The stainless steel jacketed vessel, with coil, stirrer of 0 to 500 rpm and temperature sensor, demonstrates batch-type heat transfer through its jacket of approx. 600 cm² and coil of approx. 350 cm².
Why does counter flow usually transfer more heat?
In counter flow the two streams enter at opposite ends, so a temperature difference is kept along the whole length and the cold stream can leave hotter than the hot stream's outlet.
What should an overseas buyer include in an enquiry?
Give the quantity, the destination country and the port or city of delivery, the delivery terms wanted (for example FOB or CIF), any packing requirements and the tender reference if there is one.
What does the service module contain?
It holds a hot water tank and pump, a 3000 W heater, 14 temperature points, flow meters for hot and cold water and one temperature control unit; an outside water supply is also needed.
