What Is the Plate Rolling Machine Used For?
Plate rolling bends flat plate into cylinders, cones and arcs by passing it repeatedly between rolls set in a triangle. On this pyramid type machine the top roll stays fixed and the two power-driven base rolls are raised step by step, so each pass curves the plate further. The double pre-pressing arrangement bends the plate edges before rolling, which reduces the flat portion that would otherwise be left at each end, and the cone bending connection is used when tapered shells are needed. The drop end lets a closed cylinder be slid off the top roll.
