What Is the Wood Working Chain N Chisel Mortiser Machine Used For?

A mortise is the rectangular slot cut into one piece of timber to take the tenon of another, as in door and window frames and furniture joints. On this machine the work is set on the table, which can tilt to 45 degrees for angled mortises, and the head is fed into it: the chain mortiser, a cutting chain running round a guide bar, makes long or deep mortises up to 140 mm deep, while the chisel mortiser, a hollow square chisel with a bit inside, cuts square-ended mortises up to 90 mm deep. Frames up to 1000 mm high can be worked, and the grinding attachment is used to sharpen the cutters.
