What Is the Wood Working Band Saw Machine Used For?
A wood band saw uses an endless toothed band carried on two wheels and running down through the table, so curves, straight cuts and resawing can all be done with a narrow kerf. The operator sets the upper and lower blade guides close to the work, feeds the timber by hand and uses the mitre gauge for square and angled crosscuts. On max models the circular cutting attachment is used to cut discs and round shapes, and the motor pulley and fixing plate are used to mount and drive the motor.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of band saws required.
- Model — whether a max model, which has the circular cutting attachment as standard, is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What comes with the band saw?
Standard accessories are a motor pulley, motor fixing plate, saw blade, upper and lower saw blade guide set, mitre gauge, and a toolkit with the machine manual.
Is a circular cutting attachment included?
A circular cutting attachment is supplied as a standard accessory with all max models, for cutting circles and round pieces from board.
What are the blade guides for?
The upper and lower guides support the blade above and below the work, keeping it running straight and limiting twist as it cuts.
How does a band saw differ from a circular saw?
A band saw uses a thin continuous blade running round wheels and can follow curves, while a circular saw cuts straight lines with a rotating toothed disc.
