What Is the Arc Welding Machine Used For?
In manual metal arc welding an electric arc between a flux-coated electrode and the work melts both, and the coating forms a gas shield and slag that protect the weld as it cools. The welder sets the current between 40 and 400 Amp to suit the electrode and joint, strikes the arc and runs the bead, with the anti-stick function easing release if the electrode touches down and auto-compensation holding the output when the supply fluctuates. Cellulose electrodes allow down-orientation welding, basic electrodes are used on low and medium steels, low alloy steels and stainless steel, and work up to 100 metres away can be reached on the output cable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What current range does the welder give?
The output current range is 40-400 Amp on a 3 phase, 50/60 Hz supply, with a rated input current of 27.6 Amp and a 60% duty cycle.
Which electrodes and metals can be welded?
It handles cellulose electrodes for down-orientation welding and different kinds of basic electrode, and it suits low/medium steels, low alloy steels and stainless steel.
Can it be used with a long output cable?
Yes. It maintains a stable welding status even with a 100 metre output cable, which helps when the work is far from the machine.
How does it cope with supply fluctuations?
An auto-compensation function adjusts for power supply fluctuation, and an anti-stick function works across the whole current range to stop the electrode freezing to the work.
What do the duty cycle and protection grade mean?
A 60% duty cycle means the welder can run at its rated output for 60% of a test period before resting to cool; IP21 is the housing's protection grade against solid objects and dripping water.
How large and heavy is it?
The machine measures 21.5 × 11 × 21.5 inch, weighs 33 kg, and works at 85% efficiency with a power factor of 0.93.
