What Is the Transfer Pipette Used For?

Transfer pipettes move liquid from one container to another where an exact volume is not needed, such as adding reagents, sampling cultures, removing a supernatant or topping up tubes. The user squeezes the soft bulb, dips the tip into the liquid and releases the bulb to draw it up, then squeezes again to dispense. A smooth internal surface helps the liquid drain out cleanly, and freedom from DNase, RNase, human DNA and PCR inhibitors means the pipette can be used with samples intended for molecular work such as PCR.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of transfer pipettes required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Transfer Pipette made of?
It is made of medical grade LDPE, a soft polyethylene that lets the bulb be squeezed and then spring back to draw up liquid.

How is the pipette manufactured?

Is it suitable for PCR and other molecular work?
The pipette is DNase, RNase, pyrogen, endotoxin, human DNA and PCR inhibitor free, so it can be used with samples that must be kept free of these contaminants.

Is the pipette non-toxic?
Yes, the pipette is non-toxic, and it is also free of pyrogens and endotoxins, substances that can interfere with cell-based and other biological work.
