What Is the 50 mm Three Gang Cube Mould Used For?
Compressive strength is the main acceptance test for cement, and it is found by crushing small cubes of mortar after curing. The operator fills the three 50 mm compartments with mortar in layers, compacts each layer and strikes the surface level. Once set, the cubes are removed from the mould, cured and crushed in a compression machine at the required ages, and the average strength of the cubes is reported. Casting all three together means the cubes share the same batch and compaction.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the 50 mm Three Gang Cube Mould produce?
Each filling gives three 50 mm cubes for the compression test, the strength test carried out on cement mortar in the laboratory.
What is the mould made of?
The mould is machined from steel, and its three compartments each form a 50 mm cube.
Which standards are listed for the mould?
The standards listed are EN 1770 for the mould and ASTM C109 for the cube dimension of 50 mm.
Why are three cubes cast together?
Strength is normally reported as the average of several cubes from the same batch, and a three gang mould forms them together under the same conditions.
