What Is the Cement Curing Bench-Type Cabinet Used For?
Specimens for cement strength tests have to be kept moist and at a steady temperature until they are tested, and a bench-type cabinet does this while leaving its top free for laboratory work. The operator connects the cabinet to the water mains, sets the curing temperature on the keyboard and places moulds with specimens, or demoulded cement prisms, on the sliding grids in the four cells; prisms can also sit in water in a plastic pan. The evaporation system keeps the humidity at 95 ± 5% RH, the compressor-driven refrigeration and electronic control hold the set temperature, and the specimens stay in the cells until each test age.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of cabinets required.
- Extra grids — any sliding grids beyond the 1 included per cell, up to 5 per cell.
- Plastic pan — whether the plastic pan accessory for curing specimens in water is wanted.
Frequently Asked Questions
What temperature and humidity does the bench-type cabinet hold?
The curing temperature can be set between 18 and 30 °C and is held to ±1 °C, while the relative humidity inside is kept at 95% ± 5% RH.
How is humidity produced without a nebuliser?
A water evaporation system, made up of a water collecting bath, an immersed re-circulating pump and a hydraulic circuit, saturates the air, which is why the cabinet must be connected to the water mains.
How many shelves can each cell take?
Each of the 4 cells takes up to 5 sliding grids on stainless steel guides at 70 mm spacing; 1 grid per cell, 4 in total, is included, and each shelf carries up to 40 kg.
Can the top be used as a work surface?
Yes. The bench is 2240 mm long, 700 mm wide and 860 mm high and can be used as a working table, with the cooling and controls housed in the right cabinet.
What site conditions does it need?
It needs a water mains connection with inlet water between 5 and 36 °C and an ambient temperature between 18 and 28 °C; the power rating is 310 W in total.
Which standards are listed?
For this cabinet the standards listed are EN 196-1, EN 196-8, EN ISO 679, ASTM C109 and ASTM C511.
