Compression-Flexure Cement Testing Frames

Compression-Flexure Cement Testing Frames

Product Code : EL-CTLE-10369

Compression-Flexure Cement Testing Frames (code EL-CTLE-10369) are multipurpose compression and flexural testers for work that needs a limited maximum load with a large testing space. A single compression station version is offered at 500 kN or 600 kN for low strength specimens, and a double station version at 600/15 kN or 500/15 kN adds flexural tests on cement; the solid one-piece steel frame has compression platens and a spherical seat, and the pedestal is not included.

What Are the Compression-Flexure Cement Testing Frames Used For?

Many cement-based and lightweight materials fail at loads well below those of normal concrete, so they are tested on a frame of modest capacity that has room for the accessories each test needs. The operator places the specimen, or the accessory holding it, between the compression platens; the spherical seat aligns freely with the specimen at first contact, and load is applied until failure. On the double station model the second, 15 kN station takes flexural tests on cement prisms, and the broken halves can then be crushed on the compression station. The standards listed are ASTM C109, ASTM C349, ASTM C348 and EN 196-1.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of frames required.
  • Version and capacity — single compression station at 500 kN or 600 kN, or double station at 600/15 kN or 500/15 kN.
  • Accessories — the accessories needed for the tests to be run on cement, mortar, resins, concrete or refractory specimens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Compression-Flexure Cement Testing Frames used for?
With the appropriate accessories they handle work needing a limited maximum load and a large testing space, such as lightweight concrete and soil-cement compression, concrete splitting and flexural tests, and high strength cement and refractory specimens.

Which capacities are offered?
The single compression station version comes in 500 kN or 600 kN, and the double station version in 600/15 kN or 500/15 kN capacity.

What does the second station add?
The double station model adds flexural testing of cement to the compression tests on low strength specimens done on the main station.

Why is a spherical seat fitted?
The seat aligns freely with the specimen at initial contact, so the load spreads evenly over a face that may not be exactly parallel to the platen.

Is a pedestal supplied?
No. The frames are supplied without a pedestal; each is a solid one-piece steel frame carrying compression platens, with a large testing space.

Which standards are listed?
For the frames, the standards listed are ASTM C109, ASTM C349, ASTM C348 and EN 196-1.
