Cement Samplers
Product Code : EL-CTLE-10336
Cement Samplers (code EL-CTLE-10336) are brass sampling tools for drawing cement out of packages or bulk loads so that the portion sent for testing reflects the whole consignment. Two variants are offered: a packaged cement tube sampler, 32 mm outside diameter × 700 mm long and weighing about 2 kg, and a bulk cement sampler made of two slotted concentric tubes, with an internal tube capacity of about 3 litres and a weight of about 1 kg.

What Are the Cement Samplers Used For?
A cement test result is only as good as the sample behind it, so cement is taken from within a bag or a bulk load rather than scooped from the surface. With the tube sampler, the operator pushes the 700 mm brass tube into a package and draws it out with cement held inside. With the bulk sampler, the slotted tubes are inserted into stored or shipped cement, the inner tube is turned to close the slots, and the cement trapped inside, up to about 3 litres, is lifted out and sent to the laboratory. The standards listed are IS, EN 196-7, ASTM C183 and AASHTO T127.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of samplers required.
- Variant — the packaged cement tube sampler, the bulk cement sampler or both.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which two cement samplers are available?
There is a packaged cement tube sampler for taking cement out of bags or other packages, and a bulk cement sampler for cement held in bulk storage or carried in bulk shipments.
How large is the packaged cement tube sampler?
The tube is made of brass, measures 32 mm in outside diameter and 700 mm in length, and weighs approximately 2 kg.
How does the bulk cement sampler collect cement?
It is made of two brass concentric tubes with slots. With the sampler in the cement, the inner tube is rotated to close the slots, and the cement caught inside is withdrawn as the sample.
How much cement does the bulk sampler hold?
Its internal tube has a capacity of approximately 3 litres, and the bulk sampler itself weighs about 1 kg, half the weight of the tube sampler.
Why use a sampler instead of taking cement by hand?
Cement near the surface of a bag or bulk load may differ from the material below it, and a sampler draws cement from within the load, so the tested portion better reflects the whole consignment.
Which standards are listed for the samplers?
The standards listed for both the packaged cement tube sampler and the bulk cement sampler are IS, EN 196-7, ASTM C183 and AASHTO T127.
