What Is the Briquette Tensile Strength Tester Electrically Operated Used For?
Tensile tests on cement briquettes, waisted specimens that break across a narrow central section, are a long-established way of checking cement strength where the method calls for them. The briquette is cast in the brass mould, cured and then clamped in the jaws of the tester. With the briquette fixed, the operator switches the machine on; the load rises through the lever system and load frame, and the gauge on the front shows it building until the briquette breaks. That breaking load, divided by the cross-section of the waist, gives the tensile strength.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of testers required.
- Base plate and mould — whether the base plate and brass briquette mould are to be supplied with the tester.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Briquette Tensile Strength Tester Electrically Operated test?
It determines how briquette cement specimens behave under tension load, applying the load electrically once the briquette has been fixed in the jaws.
What is its capacity?
The tester has a capacity of 900 kgs; load reaches the briquette through a double lever system and a two-pillar hydraulic load frame.
How is the load observed?
A load gauge is fitted on the front of the load frame, so the operator can watch the load as it builds up during the test.
What power supply does it need?
The machine operates on a 230 V, single phase, 50 cycle A.C. supply, and the standard listed for it is BS 12.
Can a mould be supplied with it?
Yes. The tester can be supplied with one base plate and one brass briquette mould, so that briquettes can be cast ready for testing.
