What Is the Vibrating Machine Used For?
Cement mortar cubes must be compacted in a repeatable way, or trapped air and uneven filling will lower the strength recorded when they are crushed. The operator clamps the cube mould in the vice, feeds the mortar through the hopper and starts the machine; the eccentric shaft vibrates the whole frame on its springs for the period set on the time switch. The compacted cube is then cured and later tested for compressive strength. Machine vibration takes the place of hand tamping, so every cube in a series receives the same compaction.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of machines required.
- Timer — the 0-5 mins time switch supplied, or the optional digital preset timer.
- Spares — any set of springs, belt and belt guard needed as spares.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Vibrating Machine compact?
It compacts cement mortar placed in a 70.6 mm cube mould, which is held in a vice on the vibrating frame and filled through the hopper.
At what frequency does it vibrate?
An eccentric shaft built into the frame and driven by the electric motor vibrates the assembly at 12000 ± 400 vibrations per minute.
What is supplied with the machine?
Each machine comes with one 70.6 mm cube mould with loose base plate and a time switch reading 0-5 mins in steps of 1 min.
Is a digital timer available?
Yes. A digital preset timer is offered as an option at extra cost; the standard supply includes a 0-5 mins time switch.
Which spare parts are listed?
The spares listed for the Vibrating Machine are a set of springs, a belt and a belt guard.
Which standards are listed for it?
The standards listed are IS 4031 1968, IS 1344 1959 and BS 4550, and the frame is built around a 70.6 mm cube mould.
