Microprocessor Photo Colorimeter

Microprocessor Photo Colorimeter

Product Code : EL-ETLE-10972

Microprocessor Photo Colorimeter (code EL-ETLE-10972) is a filter instrument for reading percent transmittance, absorbance and concentration of coloured liquid samples, with 8 standard glass filters covering 400 to 700 nm. It shows 0 to 100% T, 0 to 1.99 Abs and 0 to 999 concentration on a 3.5 digit bright red 7 segment LED display, uses a 6.3 V, 0.3 Amp tungsten lamp, needs a minimum sample volume of 1 ml and stores 3 standard concentrations.

What Is the Microprocessor Photo Colorimeter Used For?

A colorimeter measures how strongly a coloured solution absorbs light of a chosen colour, and is used for routine tests in water, food and clinical laboratories where a reagent turns the substance of interest into a coloured product. The operator fits the glass filter whose colour is complementary to that of the solution, sets zero absorbance and 100% T on a blank, and then reads the samples. Once a standard of known strength has been read, the instrument can display concentration directly through its K factor, and up to 3 standard concentrations can be kept in memory, so repeated tests need less setting up.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of colorimeters required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the wavelength selected?
The colorimeter uses 8 standard glass filters spanning 400 to 700 nm; the filter chosen is the one whose colour the sample absorbs most.

Can it read concentration directly?
Yes. Besides %T and absorbance it shows concentration from 0 to 999, using a K factor resolved to 0.01, and it can store 3 standard concentrations.

How small a sample can be measured?
The minimum sample volume is 1 ml, which helps when only a small amount of sample or reagent is available.

How is the instrument zeroed?
Auto zeroing is available for absorbance and for setting 100% on the transmittance scale, so the blank reading is set automatically before samples are measured.

What display and controls does it have?
Results appear on a 3.5 digit bright red 7 segment LED display, and the instrument is operated from a 5-key soft touch membrane keyboard.

What lamp and power supply are used?
A 6.3 V, 0.3 Amp tungsten lamp is the light source, and power is taken from a 230 V ±10%, 50 Hz AC supply.
