Digital Turbidity Meter
Product Code : EL-ETLE-10966
Digital Turbidity Meter (code EL-ETLE-10966) is used to measure the cloudiness, or turbidity, of water and other liquids over 0 to 1000 NTU in 2 ranges, resolving 1 NTU. A 6 V, 1 Amp tungsten lamp lights the sample held in a 30 mm clear glass test tube, a photocell/photodiode detects the light, and the result appears on a 3.5 digit LED display with an accuracy of ±3% FS ±1 digit.

What Is the Digital Turbidity Meter Used For?
Turbidity is the cloudiness of water caused by suspended particles such as clay, silt, organic matter and microorganisms. It is checked on raw and treated drinking water, in treatment plant control and in effluent monitoring, because particles can shield microbes from disinfection and show how well settling and filtration are working. The operator fills a clean 30 mm glass test tube with the sample, wipes the outside, places it in the meter and reads the value in NTU on the LED display, using the lower range for clear water and the higher range, up to 1000 NTU, for murky samples.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of turbidity meters required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What turbidity range does the meter read?
It reads from 0 to 1000 NTU, split into 2 ranges, with a resolution of 1 NTU and an accuracy of ±3% FS ±1 digit.
What sample container is used?
Samples are measured in 30 mm clear glass test tubes, which hold the liquid in the light path between the lamp and the detector.
What light source and detector does it use?
Light comes from a 6 V, 1 Amp tungsten lamp and is picked up by a photocell/photodiode detector, and the value appears on the 3.5 digit LED readout.
What does turbidity indicate about water?
High turbidity shows suspended matter such as clay, silt or organic particles. It affects the look of drinking water and the efficiency of disinfection, and is used to check settling and filtration.
Why does the meter have 2 ranges?
The 2 ranges let both clear and strongly turbid samples be read across the full 0 to 1000 NTU span, at a resolution of 1 NTU.
