What Is the Colony Counter Digital Used For?

A colony count estimates how many viable bacteria or fungi were in a water, food or environmental sample: a measured amount is spread or poured onto agar, incubated, and every visible colony is counted, then the count is scaled back by the dilution used. The operator places the 110 mm dish on the counter, views the colonies through the ×1.7 magnifier lens and marks each colony on the dish with the marking pen as it is counted, so that none is missed or counted twice. The total appears on the 4 digit LED display, and counts can be held in the 125 memory.

Which accessories come with it?
It is supplied with a marking pen (1 No.) and a magnifier lens (1 No.), used for marking counted colonies and viewing them enlarged.

Why are counted colonies marked?
Marking each colony on the dish as it is counted shows which ones have already been included, which avoids missing colonies or counting the same one twice.

What is a colony count used for?
