High Volume Sampler

High Volume Sampler

Product Code : EL-ETLE-10978

High Volume Sampler (code EL-ETLE-10978) is an air sampler that draws air through a large filter paper at 20 to 60 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM), trapping suspended particulates; over a typical 24-hour run it collects 0.1 to 1 gram of particles. A continuous duty brushless blower gives 0.8 to 1.8 m³/min, particles down to 1.6 micron are captured depending on the filter, and a 24 Hr programmable timer and time totaliser are fitted.

What Is the High Volume Sampler Used For?

Suspended particulate matter in ambient air is measured by drawing a large, known volume of air through a weighed filter: the gain in filter mass divided by the volume of air sampled gives the concentration, which is then compared with air quality limits. The operator fits a conditioned and pre-weighed GF/A or similar filter, programs the 24 Hr timer for the sampling intervals and lets the blower run, checking the flow during sampling; afterwards the filter is reweighed. The time totaliser gives the running hours, which together with the flow rate give the total volume of air sampled.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of samplers required.
  • Filter type — GF/A (8 in × 10 in) for common use, or EPM 2000 or equivalent for special research.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much air does the sampler draw?
The sampling flow rate is 20 to 60 standard cubic feet per minute, and the brushless blower is rated for a flow of 0.8 to 1.8 m³/min.

How much particulate matter does it collect?
Thanks to the high flow rate it gathers large quantities of particles, from 0.1 to 1 gram, during a typical 24-hour sampling period.

Which filters are recommended?
GF/A filters of 8 in × 10 in are recommended for common use, and EPM 2000 or an equivalent for special research; the smallest particle size captured, down to 1.6 micron, depends on the filter.

How is the sampling time controlled and recorded?
A 24 Hr programmable timer sets the required number of sampling intervals, and a time totaliser records the running time from 0 to 99999.99 hrs.

What power supply is needed?
The sampler runs on 220 Volts, single phase AC, and its blower is a continuous duty unit with a brushless motor.

What should be included in an enquiry for delivery abroad?
Give the number of samplers, the country and the port or city of delivery, the delivery terms (for instance FOB or CIF), the packing needed and any tender reference.
