What Is the Digital Dial Gauge Used For?
Like a mechanical dial gauge, the digital gauge is mounted on test apparatus with its plunger resting on the part whose movement is to be measured, such as a loaded soil sample or a specimen under test. The operator presses Zero to set the starting point and then reads the movement directly as a number on the display, with no dial divisions to count. Readings can be sent from the data output port to a data logger or computer, and the back lug, where fitted, is used to fix the gauge to a bracket. Auto power off saves the SR44/LR44 battery between tests.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of digital gauges required.
- Back lug — whether the optional back lug is to be fitted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which controls does the gauge have?
The gauge has three buttons, On/Off, Zero and mm, together with a data output port for sending readings to other equipment.
What battery does it use?
It runs on an SR44/LR44 button cell, and the auto power off function switches the gauge off to save the battery.
Can readings be transferred?
Yes. A data output port is provided, so readings can be passed from the gauge to other equipment for recording.
What is the back lug for?
A back lug is a mounting tab on the rear of the gauge used to fix it to a stand or bracket; it is supplied as an option.
How does it differ from a mechanical dial gauge?
Instead of a pointer moving over a graduated dial, the movement is shown as a number on a digital display processed by a microprocessor, and it can be zeroed at the press of a button.
How is the Digital Dial Gauge ordered?
An enquiry can be raised with the Add To Cart button on this page; alternatively, the contact page takes the number of gauges, the back lug choice and the delivery location.
