What Is the Digital Double Door Drying Oven Used For?
Drying a soil or aggregate sample to constant mass is the first step in finding its moisture content and in preparing material for tests such as grading and density, so a laboratory handling many samples needs an oven that holds a steady temperature with space for large quantities. Samples are loaded on the shelves, the temperature is set on the PID controller to 0.1 °C, and the High/Low switch selects full or half heater output. The safety thermostat takes over control if the PID controller fails, and the MCB trips on a short circuit, overload or low voltage. The standard listed for it is BS 1377.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of ovens required.
- Model and capacity — the 225 litre or 425 litre model, or the 100-500 kg or 500-1000 kg capacity.
- Maximum temperature — 200-300 °C or 300-400 °C.
- Options — the dial thermometer with collar fixing for the door, heavy duty shelves at an extra price, or a choice of oven colour for orders of more than 3 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if the PID controller fails?
A safety thermostat fitted inside the oven takes over as the temperature controller, so the samples are not left without temperature control if the PID controller fails.
How finely can the temperature be set?
The PID controller with microprocessor digital control is standard on all sizes and shows and sets the temperature with a least count of 0.1 °C.
What is the High/Low switch for?
The panel switch lets the heaters run all together for full output or at half capacity, giving the operator a choice of heating power for the load.
Which models and capacities are listed?
The range includes 225 litre and 425 litre models, and capacities of 100-500 kg and 500-1000 kg, with maximum temperatures of 200-300 °C or 300-400 °C.
What options can be added?
A dial thermometer with collar fixing for the door, heavy duty shelves on request at an extra price, and a choice of oven colour when more than 3 units are ordered.
Which standard is listed for the oven?
The standard listed for it is BS 1377, the British Standard that sets out methods of test for soils for civil engineering purposes.
