What Is the High Temperature Furnace Used For?
High temperature furnaces heat samples or small batches of material in a closed, insulated chamber to temperatures far above those of a drying oven, for work such as ashing, ignition, heat treatment and firing. The operator loads the work through the front or top door and sets the heating programme in steps on the multi-step controller, and the elements in the side wall grooves heat the chamber evenly to as much as 2350 °F. The firebrick and fiber board lining allows rapid firing, and worn elements can be replaced from stock.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of furnaces required.
- Size — the chamber size needed, within the standard range of 0.5 to 7.5 cubic feet.
- Door style — front-loading or top-loading.
- Power supply — the electrical supply at the place of use, domestic or international.
Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes are made?
Standard sizes run from 0.5 to 7.5 cubic feet, so the chamber volume can be chosen to suit the samples or batch being heated.
How hot does the furnace go?
The furnaces are built for applications to 2350 °F, under a standard multi-step temperature controller; other temperature controls are also offered for particular uses.
What is the furnace lining?
The chamber is built with 3 inch insulating firebrick and 1 inch fiber board, a combination that permits rapid firing.
Can the heating elements be replaced?
Yes. The elements sit protected in dropped recessed grooves in the side walls, which allows them to be replaced, and replacement elements are available on a just-in-time basis.
Which door styles can be chosen?
Front-loading and top-loading door styles are offered. A front-loading door gives access to shelves of samples, while a top-loading door allows work to be lowered into the chamber.
Can the furnace be built for a different mains supply?
Yes. Alternate power requirements for domestic and international use are accommodated, so the supply at the place of installation is given with the order.
