Hoek Triaxial
Product Code : EL-RTLE-10510
Hoek Triaxial (code EL-RTLE-10510) is a Hoek cell for triaxial testing of rock specimens, in which the specimen is enclosed in a rubber sealing sleeve that keeps it apart from the cell fluid. The cell has a steel body with two quick-release self-sealing couplings and two steel end caps screwed to the body, and it comes with two upper and two lower loading caps with spherical coupling.

What Is the Hoek Triaxial Used For?
In a triaxial test a rock core is loaded axially while a confining pressure acts all round it, showing how strength rises with confinement, as it does for rock at depth. The core is placed inside the rubber sleeve in the steel cell, the cell is filled with fluid through the self-sealing couplings and pressurised, and the axial load is applied to the specimen ends through the upper and lower loading caps, whose spherical coupling allows for small misalignment. The sleeve keeps the fluid out of the rock, so the confining pressure acts on the specimen surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Hoek Triaxial used for?
It is a Hoek cell designed for triaxial testing of rock specimens, where the specimen is loaded axially while held under confining fluid pressure.
What does the cell body consist of?
The cell has a steel body fitted with two quick-release self-sealing couplings, closed by two steel end caps that screw onto the body.
Which loading caps are included?
Two upper and two lower loading caps are included, each with spherical coupling, for transferring load to the ends of the specimen.
What is the rubber sleeve for?
The rubber sealing sleeve surrounds the specimen and separates it from the cell fluid, so the fluid applies pressure without entering the rock.
