What Is the Range Pole Used For?
Ranging is the marking of intermediate points so that a survey line can be chained or taped along its true straight course. Rods are pushed into the ground at the end stations, the iron point holding them upright, and further rods are lined up by eye between them until all appear in one line. The painted bands and the flag make each rod visible at a distance or in bad weather, and the bands can also serve as a rough scale for short measurements. Longer rods of 3 to 6 metres are used where survey lines are very long.
What to Specify When Ordering
