What Is the Cut Off Wheel Machine Used For?

Metallographic examination starts with cutting a small, representative piece from a larger part, and the cut must not heat the metal enough to change its structure. The operator secures the bar or component in the cutting chamber and feeds the cutting wheel through the work by hand in manual mode, or lets the machine feed it in automatic mode, while the cooling system works on the cut to stop overheating and burning. The cutting speed is set to suit the material, and the cut piece then goes on for mounting, grinding and polishing in college, university and factory laboratories.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of cutting machines required.
  • Specimen size — the largest round (up to 80 mm diameter) or rectangular (up to 70 mm high, 100 mm deep) pieces to be cut.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size of workpiece can the Cut Off Wheel Machine cut?
It cuts round workpieces up to 80 mm in diameter and rectangular specimens up to 70 mm high and 100 mm deep.

Can it cut automatically?
Yes. Cutting can be done in either manual or automatic mode, and the cutting speed can be set to suit different specimens.

Why does it have a cooling system?
The built-in cooling system prevents overheating and burning during cutting, which protects the structure of the sample that will be examined later.

What are the main parts of the machine?
