Anemometer
Product Code : EL-MAILE-10815
Anemometer (code EL-MAILE-10815) is a digital vane instrument used to measure air velocity and air flow, calculating air volume in CFM or CMM while showing the ambient temperature at the same time. Its 72 mm (2.83 in) ball bearing vane wheel on a 120 cm (3.9 ft) cable gives 3% velocity accuracy, and the meter also covers humidity, dew point and wet bulb temperature, with a backlit LCD, data hold and min/max/avg functions.

What Is the Anemometer Used For?
Vane anemometers are used to check air speed at grilles, ducts, fans and open windows, and in weather observation, because a freely turning vane spins faster as the air moves faster. The user enters the area of the duct or opening, holds the vane wheel on its cable square to the airflow and reads the velocity; the meter multiplies it by the stored area to give air volume in CFM or CMM, and the 20 point average evens out a fluctuating flow. Temperature, humidity, dew point and wet bulb readings describe the condition of the air at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Anemometer measure?
It measures air velocity or wind speed, air flow and air volume, together with ambient temperature, humidity, dew point temperature and wet bulb temperature.
How is air volume calculated?
The meter calculates air volume in CFM or CMM from the measured velocity and the area dimensions entered, which stay in the internal memory for the next power on.
How many area sizes can be stored?
There are 8 memory locations for CFM and 8 for CMM, so commonly used duct or opening sizes can be recalled without entering them again.
What vane wheel is used?
A low friction ball bearing vane wheel of 2.83 in (72 mm) diameter on a 3.9 ft (120 cm) cable, giving 3% velocity accuracy.
Where does the name anemometer come from?
The term comes from the Greek word anemos, meaning wind, and is used for any wind speed instrument in meteorology; the anemometer is also a common weather station instrument.
Can it be used in a fixed position?
Yes. It works either hand-held or in a fixed position, and it offers reading hold, maximum, minimum and average functions plus a 20 point average for air flow.
