Asphalt Mixer Theoretical Density Meter
Product Code : EL-BTLE-10427
Asphalt Mixer Theoretical Density Meter (code EL-BTLE-10427) is a vacuum-method apparatus for finding the theoretical density of asphalt mixtures, used in mix design, road condition investigation and the calculation of porosity and compactness for road construction quality management. Its main body carries a vacuum gauge and 2 acrylic vacuum containers above a vibratory table with control panel, working over a 0-100 kPa (0-750 mm Hg) vacuum range with 10 kg vibration loading.

What Is the Asphalt Mixer Theoretical Density Meter Used For?
The theoretical density of a loose asphalt mixture is its density with no air voids at all; set against the bulk density of compacted specimens or cores, it gives the air void content, which is why it underpins mix design and checks on how well a pavement has been compacted. A weighed sample of loose mix is placed in each acrylic container, covered with water and put under vacuum, while the vibratory table shakes the containers so that air trapped between the coated particles escapes. The volume of the air-free sample is then found and, with its mass, gives the theoretical density. The standard listed for it is ASTM D 2041-03.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Asphalt Mixer Theoretical Density Meter measure?
It determines the theoretical density of an asphalt mixture by the vacuum method, removing the air held within a loose sample so that only the mix itself is measured.
How many samples can be run together?
Two samples are tested at a time, one in each of the 2 vacuum containers made of acrylic pipe that sit on the vibratory table.
What vacuum does the apparatus work to?
The vacuum range is 0-100 kPa, equal to 0-750 mm Hg, and the level is read on the vacuum gauge fitted to the main body.
Why is the sample vibrated under vacuum?
Vibration from the table, with a loading of 10 kg, helps release entrapped air from the asphalt sample inside the vessels; the table runs in manual or automatic mode from the control panel.
Where are the results used?
The theoretical density feeds asphalt mix design, road condition investigation and the calculation of porosity and compactness in road construction quality management.
What electrical supply does it take, and which standard is listed?
It works on 230 V AC, single phase, 50 Hz, and the standard listed for it is ASTM D 2041-03.
