Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine
Product Code : EL-BTLE-10419
Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine (code EL-BTLE-10419) is a 50 kN bench-mounting compression frame that determines the maximum load (stability) and flow values of bituminous mixtures and works out both automatically. Its two-column frame has an adjustable upper cross beam and a motor and worm gear housed in the base, while the data acquisition and control unit sets the lower platen speed between 6 mm/min and 60 mm/min and keeps up to 10000 test results.

What Is the Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine Used For?
The Marshall test is a long-established way of designing and checking hot bituminous paving mixtures: compacted cylindrical specimens are loaded across their diameter until they fail, the highest load reached is the stability and the deformation at that point is the flow. On this machine the specimen sits in the breaking head on the lower platen, the operator brings the platen up with the front-panel buttons and starts the run, and the control unit reads load from the load cell and deformation from the displacement transducer, plotting the curve and reporting both values. The standards listed are EN 12697-34, 12697-23, 12967-12, ASTM D1559, D5581, D 6927 and AASHTO T245.

Frequently Asked Questions
What results does the Automatic Marshall Stability Test Machine give?
It determines the maximum load, reported as stability, and the flow value of bituminous mixture specimens; the control unit calculates both values automatically and shows the test graph in real time.
How fast can the lower platen move during a test?
The platen speed is set on the data acquisition and control unit anywhere from 6 mm/min to 60 mm/min. Limit switches restrict its up and down travel, and front-panel buttons give rapid positioning.
Can the frame be worked by hand?
Yes. A lateral hand wheel lets the machine be operated by hand for calibration purposes, and a hand wheel for manual control forms part of the standard supply.
Which sensors come with the machine?
It is supplied with a 50 kN load cell and a linear potentiometric displacement transducer with bracket, rated 25 × 0.001 mm, together with a connection cable, a breaking head and PC software.
How many results can the control unit hold, and how are they exported?
Up to 10000 test results stay in permanent storage. They can be moved with a USB flash disc, printed on a USB inkjet or laser printer, or sent over Ethernet to a computer or remote connection.
Which test methods is the machine offered for?
The standards listed are EN 12697-34, 12697-23, 12967-12, ASTM D1559, D5581, D 6927 and AASHTO T245, covering Marshall and related testing of bituminous mixtures.
