Laboratory Hot Plate (code EL-LEAA-11000) is an electric heater with a flat cast iron top, used to heat vessels on the laboratory bench. It heats from ambient to 300 °C, its 7.5 inch top is finished in heat resistant paint, and heat is set on an energy regulator marked 0 to 100; a thermostat control and a 304 grade stainless steel body are offered in place of the standard regulator and powder coated mild steel body.

What Is the Laboratory Hot Plate Used For?

Hot plates are used to warm and boil solutions, evaporate liquids, dissolve solids and keep samples at a raised temperature without an open flame. The vessel stands on the cast iron top, and the user turns the energy regulator towards 100 for more heat or towards 0 for less; an energy regulator switches the heater on and off for a longer or shorter share of the time rather than holding a fixed temperature. Where a held temperature is wanted, the thermostat option is fitted in place of the energy regulator.
