Rotary Shaker (code EL-LEAA-10995) is a flask shaker that moves a platform of clamped flasks in a circle in the horizontal plane to mix and agitate their contents. Its counter balanced induction motor drive gives a 19 mm diameter circular motion, or 25 mm on the heavy duty version, with fixed or variable speed of 100 to 180 RPM or 20 to 180 RPM, on a painted or powder coated mild steel frame.

What Is the Rotary Shaker Used For?

Rotary or orbital shaking keeps liquids in flasks swirling steadily, which is used for dissolving, extracting, mixing reagents and growing cultures that need continuous movement and aeration. Flasks are held on the platform in clamps sized for their capacity, the speed is set, and the platform circles in the horizontal plane so that every flask receives the same motion. Lower speeds give gentle mixing and higher speeds more vigorous swirling, while the heavy duty version moves its platform in a wider 25 mm circle. A digital RPM meter with DC drive can be added to show the running speed.
