Air Conditioning System Trainer

Air Conditioning System Trainer

Product Code : EL-RAACLE-10783

Air Conditioning System Trainer (code EL-RAACLE-10783) is a full air conditioning installation built around an air duct and climatic chamber, used to teach how room air is cooled, heated, humidified, dehumidified and mixed. Its duct holds a fan, an air cooler served by an air-cooled condensing unit of 320 W at +5/40 °C, a steam humidifier, an air heater and three motorised flaps, while the chamber has two adjustable 0 to 250 W heaters as wet and dry cooling loads.

What Is the Air Conditioning System Trainer Used For?

The trainer lets students follow each change of state that air goes through in an air conditioning plant and see how the refrigeration circuit responds. Using the motorised flaps they can route or mix air streams, switch the cooler, humidifier and air heater in and out, and set the two chamber heaters to impose dry or wet cooling loads. Temperatures and humidities read along the duct are plotted on the h-x diagram, while the manometers and flow meter on the refrigeration circuit give the values needed to plot the refrigerant circuit in a log p-h chart and work out the heating and cooling effects.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of air conditioning trainers required.
  • Power supply — the 230 V, 50 Hz or the 230 V, 60 Hz single phase version.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can students study on the Air Conditioning System Trainer?
Topics include the system and its components, conditioning room air, dry and wet cooling loads, humidification and dehumidification, heating and cooling, and mixing air flows, with results shown on h-x and log p-h diagrams.

How is the cooling load created in the climatic chamber?
The chamber has wet (latent) and dry (sensible) heat sources, provided by two heaters whose output is freely adjustable from 0 to 250 W each.

What refrigeration capacity does the condensing unit have?
The air-cooled condensing unit gives 320 W of refrigeration capacity at +5/40 °C, and its power consumption is 140 W at -10 °C.

Which values are measured?
Air velocity 0 to 2,5 m/s, temperature 0 to 50 °C, relative humidity 10 to 90%, condensing unit power, cooling load power, and refrigerant pressure and flow rate.

How is air distribution controlled?
Three motorised ventilation flaps control how air is distributed through the system, so that different air flows can be mixed in the duct.

How large and heavy is the trainer?
It measures approximately 2200 × 800 × 1600 mm (L × W × H) and weighs about 265 kg, and its air duct has a flow cross-section of 155 × 155 mm.
