What Is the pH Tester Used For?

pH expresses how acidic or alkaline a water sample or solution is, and it is measured on water, soil suspensions and test solutions in many laboratories. The tester is first calibrated against one or two buffer solutions, which it recognises automatically; the probe is then dipped into the sample, and the reading is taken when the stability indicator shows it has settled. The slim probe, 103 mm long and tapered to 8 mm, reaches into test tubes and vials, so only a small volume of sample is needed. Automatic shut off can be selected to save the battery.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of pH testers required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it measure samples in test tubes?
Yes. The probe is 103 mm long and tapers to an 8 mm diameter, so it fits into test tubes and vials for measuring small samples.

How is the tester calibrated?
Calibration is automatic to one or two points, with automatic buffer recognition and calibrated buffer tags to assist the process.

How does the user know a reading is ready?
A stability indicator shows when the reading has settled, so the value can be noted without guessing whether it is still drifting.

Does it switch off automatically?
Automatic shut off is selectable, so it can be turned on to save the battery, and a low battery indicator warns when the battery needs replacing.
