What Is the Abrasion Cut Off Machine Used For?
Specimens for metallographic examination, hardness testing and chemical analysis are usually cut from larger bars, sections or tubes, and an abrasive wheel cooled by liquid makes the cut without heating the metal enough to change its structure. The operator clamps the piece, positions it with the lead screw, closes the door and brings the 300 mm wheel down through the material, by hand or in automatic mode, while coolant from the 50 Ltr tank floods the cut. The control panel and sensor show power, door and pump status, and the emergency stop and door limit switches protect the operator.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of cut off machines required.
- Model — tabletop, walk-behind or freehand.
- Specimen size — the size of round specimen or section to be cut, within the 60 to 100 mm capacity.
Frequently Asked Questions
How large a piece can be cut?
The machine takes round specimens of 60 to 100 mm, with a cutting capacity of up to 100 mm, using a 300 mm (12 in) cut-off wheel.
How fast does it cut?
It works at high speed, with the abrasive wheel turning at 2800 RPM; a 25 mm diameter solid bar takes it 20 seconds to cut through.
Is coolant used during cutting?
Yes. An inbuilt 50 Ltr recirculating coolant tank is served by a 0.1 HP, 3 phase coolant motor, so samples come out cool and free of burns and deformation.
Which safety controls are provided?
The control panel handles door limit switches, emergency stop, illumination and machine switch-on, and a sensor shows when power is on, the door is open or the pump is running.
Which model suits which material?
The tabletop model is used for cutting tiles and metal, while the freehand model is used for concrete, pipe and asphalt; a walk-behind model is also offered.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
An export quotation needs the quantity, the destination country with its port or city, the delivery terms required, for example FOB or CIF, the packing wanted and any tender reference.
