Tensile Strength Testing Machine

Tensile Strength Testing Machine

Product Code : EL-STLE-10565

Tensile Strength Testing Machine (code EL-STLE-10565) is used to find the tensile strength and elongation of raw materials, from metals to foam, rubber, textiles, plastic and paper, and of finished products such as rods, wires, ropes, yarns and belts. It reads load up to 250 Kg with a 0.1 kg least count and elongation up to 900 mm with a 0.1 mm least count, both on digital display, and is driven by a ½ Hp, 1425 rpm, 220 V AC single phase induction motor.

What Is the Tensile Strength Testing Machine Used For?

Tensile strength shows the pulling force a material or product withstands before it breaks, and elongation shows how far it stretches before breaking; together they often decide whether a raw material suits a particular application. The operator clamps a length of wire, yarn, rope, belt, rubber, plastic or paper in the machine and the motor draws the ends apart until the sample fails, while the peak load and the extension are followed on the digital displays. With up to 250 Kg of load and 900 mm of travel, the machine covers light samples that stretch a long way as well as stiffer rods and wires within its load range.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of machines required.
  • Samples — the materials or products to be tested, for example wires, yarns, rubber or plastic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which materials can be tested?
Raw materials such as metals, foam, rubber, textiles, plastic and paper can be tested, as well as finished products such as rods, wires, ropes, yarns and belts.

What is the load range and least count?
Load is read on a digital display up to 250 Kg, with a least count of 0.1 kg.

How much elongation can be measured?
Elongation is measured up to 900 mm with a 0.1 mm least count, also on a digital display, so samples that stretch a long way can be followed to failure.

What motor drives the machine?
It has a ½ Hp single phase induction motor running at 1425 rpm on a 220 V AC supply.

Why are tensile strength and elongation measured?
They are the two prime characteristics of most raw materials and products, and they often decide whether a material is suitable for a particular application.
