Pipe Network Apparatus
Product Code : EL-FMLE-10674
Pipe Network Apparatus (code EL-FMLE-10674) is a freestanding accessory to the Hydraulics Bench used to show how flow divides through series, parallel, mixed and ring-main pipe networks and how pipe diameter affects it. A permanent arrangement of PVC pipes of 14 mm, 10 mm, two 9 mm and 6 mm inside diameter is fitted with isolating valves and adjustable outlets, and a digital pressure meter on a 230 V single phase supply measures the differential pressure across the network.

What Is the Pipe Network Apparatus Used For?
Water mains and building services are networks in which flow splits between branches until the head loss along every path is the same, so engineers need to predict how much water each branch carries. Students set a network with the isolating valves, feed it from the bench, adjust the supply and the off-take at each outlet and read the differential pressure across the network on the digital meter while measuring the flow. Comparing series, parallel and ring-main arrangements, and adding a doubling pipe, shows how pipe size and layout change the head loss for a given discharge.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of pipe network units required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which pipe networks can be set up?
Isolating valves allow series, parallel and mixed configurations and a ring main to be created without draining the system, so a wide range of pipe arrays can be studied.
What pipe sizes are fitted?
The PVC pipes have inside diameters of 14 mm and 10 mm (one of each), 9 mm (two) and 6 mm (one), so head loss can be compared against discharge for different sizes.
How does it connect to the Hydraulics Bench?
It stands alongside the bench on its own frame and connects through a reinforced flexible tube with a threaded union and O ring seal, so no tools are needed.
How is pressure measured across the network?
A digital pressure meter measures the differential pressure across the network, and it runs from a 230 V single phase power supply.
Can the flows at each outlet be changed?
Yes. The flow into the network and the flow out at each outlet can be varied individually, which shows the effect of changes in supplies and off-takes on a ring main.
What should an overseas buyer include in an enquiry?
Give the number of units, the destination country with the port or city, the preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any special packing needs and a tender reference where one applies.
