Precision Pressure Gauge Calibrator
Product Code : EL-FMLE-10678
Precision Pressure Gauge Calibrator (code EL-FMLE-10678) is a portable, self-contained deadweight tester used to calibrate pressure gauges, pressure transducers and similar instruments, in lecture theatre demonstrations or as the master calibrator of a laboratory. Two pistons of different effective area give a low and a high range covering 1-1,200 bar to ±0.025% of reading, with a capstan-operated oil ram, a 0.05 bar minimum weight increment and a fitted carrying case with weights, BSP and NPT adaptors, spare seals and oil.

What Is the Precision Pressure Gauge Calibrator Used For?
A deadweight tester produces a known pressure by loading a piston of known area with known masses, since pressure is force divided by area, so a gauge connected to it is checked against a reference that needs no other instrument. The operator levels the tester, fits the gauge with a suitable BSP or NPT adaptor, loads the weights for the first test pressure and turns the capstan until the flotation indicator shows the piston floating. The gauge reading is then compared with the deadweight value, and the steps are repeated up and down the range on the low or high pressure piston to build a calibration table.

Frequently Asked Questions
What pressure range does the calibrator cover?
It calibrates gauges over 1-1,200 bar to ±0.025% of reading, using two pistons of different effective area to provide a low and a high pressure range.
How is the test pressure generated?
A capstan-operated hydraulic ram, using oil as the hydraulic fluid, is balanced by deadweights acting on a piston of known area, and the pressure developed is applied to the gauge being calibrated.
What is the smallest pressure step?
The minimum standard weight increment is 0.05 bar, and because the masses added are proportional to the target pressure, each test point is set by the weights loaded.
How does the operator know the piston is floating?
A flotation indicator on the top plate shows when the piston is floating, and a spirit level with adjustable feet is used to level the instrument first.
What comes with the calibrator?
It is supplied with the necessary weights, a fitted carrying case, a range of BSP and NPT female adaptors, spare seals and a quantity of oil.
Can it be used for classroom demonstrations?
Yes. Being portable and self-contained, it can be taken into a lecture theatre for demonstrations or kept in the laboratory as the master calibrator.
